I have bought a cheap rather old Scottish 3/4 violin on eBay. The case is all scratched up and the handle hanging off which I will dump and get another case. The fiddle has a few nicks and dings and the varnish not too good, but it sounds .... longer and accept cross tuning better, perlon will give you a more complex sound. As a beginner learning to fiddle, steel might be a better option but its not that big a deal. If you can play banjo, you can probably learn anything. ... |
